Thermal Imaging Analysis

Many users capture thermal imagery with UAV-based infrared cameras to analyze temperature distributions and identify anomalies. R2 GEO SERVICE handles the professional processing and preparation of this data, independent of the sensor system used.

The IR images are geometrically corrected, georeferenced, and, if required, merged into a thermal orthophoto. This creates a true-to-scale, map-ready representation of the thermal situation of an area or object.

Depending on the use case, the thermal information can also be mapped, classified, and interpreted. This enables structured analysis and clear separation of relevant areas, for example for technical inspections or condition assessments.

Typical use cases include:
*technical inspections
*building and infrastructure analysis
*locating thermal anomalies
*documentation and as-built records
*combining thermal data with RGB, LiDAR, or terrain data

As with all R2 GEO SERVICE deliverables, thermal results can be provided in different resolutions, levels of detail, and file formats, tailored to the intended purpose.

Common output formats:
*.tif
*.pdf

Thermal imaging analysis: Thermal orthophoto of a rooftop solar PV system with flagged anomalies, used to identify hotspots and potential defects.
Thermal imaging analysis: Georeferenced thermal orthophoto of a rooftop PV system, providing a map-ready infrared layer for inspection and documentation.
Thermal imaging analysis: Thermal image with measurement points and temperature readings on a PV module, used to compare hot and cold areas during inspection.
